Special Education Advocacy
Could my child have a
learning disability or
special need?
At an ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal), teachers, administrators, and other staff members meet to determine a student's eligibility for the special education program because of a special need or a learning disability. Our special education Advocates are professionals who support the family and provide guidance throughout the ARD process. Advocates work with the family and collaborate with the school to identify the needs of the student, develop academic and/or behavioral goals, and recommend services and accommodations the school can provide to help meet those goals. They serve alongside the parents and other stakeholders as members of the ARD team to help develop the IEP. Please note: ARD Advocates are not attorneys and do not provide legal advice.
ARD Advocacy is provided free to families that qualify for Medicaid. Applicants are not required to receive Medicaid. We will also accept the current year's tax return to verify eligibility by income. Please refer to the following website for income eligibility https://www.benefits.gov/benefit/1640.
