- Our Initiatives
We build a firm foundation to ensure college readiness, offer families tools to help their children academically, and reward outstanding educators. Our Initiatives: College Bound With our College Bound program we begin to build a firm academic foundation and ensure college readiness as early as 3rd grade through classes, workshops, videos, private educational coaching, and reduction of Summer Learning Loss through our summer enrichment program, S.P.A.R.K . Beginning in 9th grade we work to encourage a culture of college attendance through mentoring and visits to colleges. Our high school students also receive coaching through the application process to help with college selection, volunteer hours, interviewing and more. Once accepted into a college or university our mentors work closely with students to ensure deadlines are met and they have all necessary information and resources to make it to that first day of school. Classroom Champions At Noggin we value outstanding teachers. Through our Classroom Champions program we recognize and reward these teachers to encourage them to continue doing what they love. We also provide resources and funds to equip their classrooms with the tools they need to be creative and effective.
- S.P.A.R.K
S.P.A.R.K is a free 6 week program provding math and reading enrichment activities with the goal of reducing or preventing summer learning loss for at risk kids IMG_0749_edited 1/23 S.P.A.R.K Summers Learning Loss Studies show that over the summer, most students lose two months of math computation skills. Low-income students lose more than two months in reading achievement, while middle-income students maintain or gain due to access to summer programs and other enrichment opportunities. Losses accumulate over years eventually resulting in students that perform below their grade level. By 5th grade, many low-income students are the equivalent of two to three grades behind. Much of this achievement gap can be attributed to summer learning loss. S.P.A.R.K. (Summers Producing Academically Ready Kids) S.P.A.R.K. is a six-week math and ELAR enrichment program designed to mitigate summer learning loss through engaging games, activities, and project-based learning. Our program is offered to organizations serving economically disadvantaged youth as part of their existing summer programs. Key program highlights: S.P.A.R.K is staffed by experienced classroom teachers. On average, over half of the students demonstrate an improvement in their assessment grades from the beginning to the end of the summer program. Students enrolled in the program are provided with a new backpack and book upon successfully completing the course. During project-based learning, professionals from fields related to the unit subjects engage with students by presenting Career Chats. 1.
